On 4th April Google went public with its plans to offer augmented-reality glasses, which it’s calling “Project Glass.” Project Glass is part of the Google[x] special projects division that also includes self-driving cars. The glasses team is led by Babak Parviz, Steve Lee and Sebastian Thrun. The New York Times first reported the project in February 2012 and after few months of speculations,Google finally revealed this wonderful project.
The prototype has been demonstrated in the video that Google released on YouTube. As seen on the video its an augmented reality eye-ware with a clear screen display with sensors and voice recognition system, internet connectivity and Very efficient user interface which helps to interact with the user with simple voice commands ,gestural inputs or even sometimes based on the instinct of the inbuilt AI.So what can it do?
Pretty much a lot.Remember how Mobile phones become an indispensable commodity of our life.It might be the next think like that. This device is programmed to help you in every steps of your daily life to make it better and easy for you to go through the simple tasks of your daily life. With this device you would be able to read your appointments while preparing a hot cup of tea, look out the window and pull up a quick report of the weather, reply to a Google+ message while eating your lunch and more. Get live public transportation alerts and then have the glasses help you navigate to the nearest operable station is a very exciting possibility. There are many ways that this project can help you to do the simple tasks of your daily life more quick, efficiently and a lot more easily.
I remember such a project carried out in MIT which was lead by Pranav Mistry and the project was named “Sixth Sense”.’Sixth Sense’ is a wearable gestural interface that augments the physical world around us with digital information and lets us use natural hand gestures to interact with that information.
So it will be a huge fun for anyone adapting this new and innovative way of living and interacting with people your friends and family members. Check out the video to have the exact idea about the project and the prototype.
