A read receipt is an email notification delivered when a recipient opens (and presumably reads) an email you send. The receipt confirms that the recipient saw your message and records the time. But this feature is only available on Business accounts.
Here is a script that can do the same thing running in the background of a Google spreadsheet containing your message. This is very simple and can be easily done by following these steps…
Step 1 –
Create a Spreadsheet in Google Drive.
Step 2 –
Put Your Email Address on the First Cell ( Position Column 1 and Row 1 ) of the Spread Sheet.Put the Title of the Message on the next cell ( Position Column 2 and Row 1).
Step 3 –
Give some space and start writing your massage in any cell you want. You can write any amount of message even format them according to your needs.
Step 4 –
Add the following code to the spreadsheet.
Go To Tools > Script Manager > Create New Script > Add the following code > Save
Step 5 –
Set Trigger attributes by clicking on the Current Script’s Triggers Icon.
Click on Add a new trigger. Set Trigger Run = OnOpen and Trigger Events = From Spreadsheet and OnOpen. Click Save.
Step 6 –
Share the Spreadsheet via email or through Google Drive Sharing Options.
Step 7 –
When the receiver would open the spreadsheet a Notification will pop up stating “A read receipt has been sent to the Author of this Massage”:
Also, the Cells containing your email address and the Title of the message would be replaced with the date-stamp of when the message was first opened.
The Author of the message would get a confirmation message through email.
This is a very good process to be assure that the recipient has received your important messages.Have fun and be creative…
